Change

By: Emaan Afroz

‘It had long come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things’

We have all achieved something in life, regardless of what that thing is and how big/small it may seem. There are times when things seem hard, almost impossible, unbearable until we find an escape or overcome them. Achievement could be defined in any terms as in, having courage to overcome a situation, the attainment of a certain goal or putting extra effort into a task. All the achievements either big or small will play a major role in what you set out to achieve next- it automatically sets you towards change.

We get a vision of what we want, therefore achievements aren’t dropped off at your front door with a bunch of roses, you have to go and get it. Most of the time it’s understandable and noticed that people achieving everything they aim for in the end are the emptiest soul yet others with little material wealth are the happiest soul, the reality is that if we don't create absolutely compelling visions of what we want in life, they will never come into existence.

Living life without any clear direction for your future is like trying to drive a car blindfolded. Change comes within us, only if we try. Only if we accept the truth of reality over fantasy, sometimes we accept reality but it still hurts and helds a whole in our heart.

We don’t know where to start so how are we going to be fully satisfied? We’ll resort to things that will never fulfill us and we’ll live our life in the desperate rage of just hoping something will change. One must think deeper! Is it that we really don’t know or is it that we don’t believe it is changing?

At times, your past interferes with what you actually want, not that your past isn’t useful but it’s equally important to plan a change ahead, you may not want to repeat same old mistakes so you’ll take guidance from your past but ‘it is not nearly as important to your present as the way you see your future’. When you get what you aimed for but it’s not exactly the same, yet you still appreciate the way it is, look at the bright sight- you changed your vision in order to move ahead. Most of us know what they want but they just believe it, it's out of their control. If you don’t know how to change yourself in order to become a better version then you haven’t discovered your true self. What you want doesn’t really conflict with who you are, you might be braver than a child who lost his/her father recently. You never know where you belong until you figure it out and consistency along with embracing change is the key.
